Effective date: 24 October 2026
The short version
- DSN is a ledger: shops record what their customers owe (or are owed), and customers can see their own balances.
- We collect only what is needed to run that: names, mobile numbers, ledger entries, and bill photos you choose to attach.
- Your PIN is stored scrambled (hashed) — nobody at DSN can read it.
- We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time — see Deleting your account.

1. Who we are
DSN Shop (“DSN”, “we”, “us”) provides DSN, a credit-ledger service for shops and their customers. We decide how the information described here is used, so we are the one responsible for it. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.
2. How accounts work
Nobody signs up on their own. A DSN login always starts when someone else adds your mobile number:
- Shop owners are set up by the DSN team. Owners add their own staff (counter) logins.
- Customers get a login automatically when a shop adds their mobile number as a customer.
The person then activates the login themselves by choosing a 4-digit PIN. A customer can see only their own balances and entries — and the notes they write — across the shops that have added them. Customers cannot create entries.
3. Information we collect
Information you or your shop give us
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Account details | Name, mobile number, optional email address, your role (owner, staff or customer), and account status. Your PIN is stored only as a one-way hash. |
| Shop details | Shop name, category, address and contact number (for shop owners). |
| Customer records | Entered by a shop about its customers: name, mobile number, optional email and address, opening balance, the shop’s private note, a follow-up reminder date and note, and an optional “defaulter” marker with a reason. |
| Ledger entries | For each entry: type (“You Gave” or “You Got”), amount, date, optional due date, notes (from the shop and from the customer), who recorded it, and when. |
| Bill photos | Photos (JPG, PNG or WEBP) that shop users attach to an entry. The app uses your camera or photo picker only when you choose to attach a photo. |
| PIN reset codes | A one-time code a shop creates when a customer forgets their PIN. It is stored hashed, expires after 30 minutes, and is deleted after use or expiry. |
Information collected automatically
- Technical logs: IP address, request time, and basic device/browser type, kept for security and troubleshooting.
- A login token, kept on your device so you stay logged in (it expires after 30 days). The shop portal uses a session cookie for the same purpose. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, SMS or call history, microphone recordings, or advertising ID. We do not process card or bank details — DSN does not handle payments; it only records amounts you enter.
4. How we use it
- To provide the ledger: store and show balances, entries, photos and notes to the right people.
- To log you in and keep your account secure (PIN checks, session tokens, abuse prevention).
- To support shops and customers when they contact us, and to fix problems.
- To meet legal obligations and protect our rights.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
5. Who can see your information
- The shop that added you sees what it recorded about you: your customer record and ledger entries with that shop, including your notes on them. Its owner and staff share this view. A shop cannot see your records with other shops.
- You, as a customer, see your balances and entries with every shop that has saved your mobile number.
- DSN administrators can access data when needed to run, secure and support the service.
- Authorities, only where the law requires it.
Because shops enter information about their customers, the shop’s own handling of that information is its responsibility. Please do not enter information about other people that you do not have a reason to hold.
6. Service providers
We use a third-party hosting provider to run our servers and store data on our behalf. It may process your information only to provide that service. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
Our public web pages and the shop portal load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google when you open those pages. The mobile app and the customer web app do not.
7. How long we keep it
We keep information for as long as your login or a shop’s ledger is active. When a shop removes a customer or an entry, it disappears from the apps straight away. After a verified deletion request we permanently erase the data concerned within 30 days, except records we must keep by law or to resolve a dispute. Backups are overwritten on their normal cycle.
8. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law (including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, where it applies to you), you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong — you can also edit your name and email in the app’s Profile screen;
- delete your information or close your login;
- stop using your information in a way you object to, or withdraw consent you gave.
Send requests to the contact below. We may ask you to confirm your identity (for example by confirming your mobile number) before we act. If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to the data-protection authority that applies to you.
9. Deleting your account
You can ask us to delete your DSN login and the personal information linked to it:
- Email support@dsnmobile.com from the address on your account, or from any address if you tell us the mobile number registered with DSN. Use the subject “Delete my DSN account”.
- Include your name and the mobile number on your account.
- We confirm it is you, then delete your login, name, email and PIN within 30 days and confirm to you by email.
What happens to ledger entries
Ledger entries are also the shop’s business records. If you are a customer and you delete your login, the shop may keep its own records of what happened between you and it, but your login, your own notes and your contact details are removed from our systems. If you are a shop owner, deleting the account removes the shop, its staff logins, its customer records, entries and bill photos — we will confirm this with you first because it cannot be undone.
Prefer not to email? Ask your shop to remove you as a customer, then contact us to delete the login.
10. Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), one-way hashing of PINs, access limits so each shop sees only its own data, expiring login tokens, and limits on wrong PIN-reset guesses. Bill photos are stored privately and can be opened only by logged-in people who are allowed to see that entry. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your PIN to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
11. Children
DSN is for adults running or buying from shops. It is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child’s information is on DSN, contact us and we will remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will also tell you in the app or by contacting your shop. Please check back from time to time.
